MODIFIKASI Yamaha Scorpio

Already a reasonable thing if modifications to sacrifice some of the side. Moreover, if the modifications had a total drived, Surely it can not again identified as the standard motor.

If it were so, surely there must be a relented, for example family. Wives and children can not get again and driving freely get a ride on a bicycle together.

"I want that baseball, even though the motor has been modified, his wife and children also can participate menimati must remain," said Helmy Hetmansyah, owner of the complex Marines complete double Scorpio Jaya Baru, Maruyung, Depok

Helmy was keen to modify. Noted there were two motorcycles that have been revamped his total. One was the Honda GL-Pro Neo Tech is also in the Em-Plus face 524th edition. "When it replicate its design concept smv Aprilia 750," Helmy story again.

From that experience, Helmy understood it was time to make the motor MODIF but still comfortable to wear for the family. "If previous motor still selfish, most just figure I just can enjoy," quipped his office at the Marine headquarters, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

Hence changes in Scorpio this time so special attention to convenience sector. "Views such as total modification of the Scorpio had to change the standard but still be comfortable also used tandem," said Helmy again.

"Original frame baseball almost nothing changed. In fact, the tank is also still wear the standard of Scorpio," said Wardoyo modifier of the workshop on Ambara Custom 2wheel Gandul, Gandul, Cinere, Depok.

These changes need extra thinking. The reason is that extreme live cattle MODIF order to support the body as desired. Now the display body which should also be a standard framework meyesuaikan Scorpio.

Honda CBR 600

As soon as we got the insurance payout it was off to Dobles in Croydon as we needed another bike ASAP. We opted for another Honda CBR600 which we bought new for around £5,400. Honda had updated the CBR since the last one we had, which basically meant that it was now fuel injected whereas the old one was on carbs. As usual with Honda it served us very well but I always thought that it was a bit bland and lacking personality. One thing was certain – it was not a patch on the old carburettor model. The fuel injection caused the throttle to behave like an on off switch at times, which manifested itself mostly mid corner when you wished to make a tiny increase or reduction on the throttle. You got used to it but it required a change in the way you rode the bike. I took this bike to France with three mates for a 2 day tour of Normandy and Brittany. The weather was good, the roads were excellent and I managed 155mph on a deserted stretch of French PĂ©age – the fastest I have been on a bike. The CBR got to about 145 quickly but took a while to push the extra 10mph. Annette enjoyed this bike as well because it was small, light and easily manageable.

BMW F650GS

There was a series on the TV called “The Long Way Down” in which actors Ewan McGregor and Charley Borman made a trans continental journey on BMW 1150GS Adventure bikes. BMW sales grew overnight but the 1150 and 1200GS bikes were too big for Annette so we had a look at the BMW F650GS. It was a 649cc single cylinder engine in a bike that was big, robust and heavy. We bought it second hand and had the seat changed to the “tall” version. Annette has long legs so tall bikes are never a problem. The bike had been imported into this country from Germany by the dealer and as a result it had had the clocks changed to UK spec showing MPH. This meant that when we picked the bike up it had 7 miles showing on the clock but in actual fact it had done the equivalent of 3000 miles in Germany. It proved to be a great bike and I made many a comfortable trip to Liverpool, only having to stop for fuel rather than having to stop to revive some feeling into my gluteus maximus, which had always been the case before. Unusually the fuel tank sat below the seat meaning that the bike had a low centre of gravity and the fuel cap was at the side of the seat. The riding position was excellent and you were sat above the traffic which afforded a good view. I actually took it off road once on some forest tracks, one of which was a bit too downhill for my liking but the bike handled it well. It would happily sit at 90 MPH on fast roads and although it only had a nose cone, it was enough to deflect the windblast. We now had 2 single cylinder bikes, because the CCM404 mentioned earlier was still in our “stable”. It made sense to swap the CCM at this point, so after a couple of year’s service the CCM was the next to go.

Honda VFR 800-F1

I was walking around the showroom at Motorcycle City one day when I noticed a 1999 Honda VFR800 in shiny red. This bike was and still is a legend and this particular model is well regarded as it is pre fuel injection and pre VTEC which was an unpopular modification on later models. The VFR was a 799cc V4, 160 MPH sports tourer which was absolutely bombproof. It is well known that these bikes are over engineered and will achieve massive mileages. This one was 8 years old with 6000 miles on the clock. It was immaculate and within days the CCM was traded in and it was ours for about £3,500. Annette did ride this bike but her preference was for the BMW. I had the best of both worlds and would alternate which bike I rode. I did many long trips on the VFR and it was faultless. I think that it was one of the best bikes that we have owned. It went through winters with typical Honda ease and the only thing I looked to replace was the exhaust for a stainless steel one, but I never did get round to it. We kept it for 2 years and I doubled the mileage on it in that time.

Kawasaki Versys

The BMW F650GS was getting older and to be honest the throbby big thumper of an engine was wearing thin. The problem was that nothing to replace it was jumping out at me, other than another single which was not what I was after. I then spotted the Kawasaki Versys which had quietly kept itself to itself. It was a 650cc parallel twin which was a lot smoother than the single cylinder equivalent. I visited Portman Motorcycles and took out a demonstrator which I liked straight away. The engine was smooth and torquey whilst the riding position was very similar to the BMW. The deal was done, the BMW traded in with 9000 miles (showing) on the clock (he didn’t ask, so I didn’t tell him) and the Versys was ours. The good thing was that while we were waiting to collect the bike the dealer phoned me to say that he couldn’t get hold of the none ABS version that I had requested. I explained that the only reason I didn’t want ABS was that it was £200 more expensive so we had a chat and decided that I should just have the ABS one in stock without paying £200 for it. Never mind, I’m sure he will get over it. It has served us well so far but it is a bit top heavy and the finish will only take a couple of winter’s salt I reckon. Speaking of which I lost the front wheel on ice early one morning but as I was only doing 10 MPH I managed to whack it back up with my foot! It is very easy to ride an Annette likes it although she does find it a bit heavy at times. I will probably change the tyres soon for something a bit grippier and I wouldn’t rule out a loud exhaust either. Watch this space.

Harley Davidson 883 Iron

One day in work a mate of mine threw motorcycle news at me and said he had finished with it. I opened it up and there was a very nice looking, matt black Harley. Now I have never been a fan of Harleys but this one took my fancy because it was old school looking, basic, mean and moody. When I went home I had a look on the internet and got a few photos up. VERY NICE. It just so happens that there is a new Harley Davidson dealer in Guildford, so the next morning I took a trip up there. I walked in and there it was in the flesh. VERY VERY NICE. I had a chat and they had a demonstrator so I took it out and the sale was as good as done. I took Annette along and within the week the VFR had been traded in and we were now the owners of a Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Iron. It is a V Twin 883 cc “motorcycle”. This does not deserve to be called a bike, it is a “motorcycle”. The demonstrator managed 100MPH but this is a machine for cruising at around 65. It handles like a dream surprisingly and the ride is definitely harsh so potholes are best avoided. One thing is for sure, it is heavy. Not heavy to ride just to push around. So there you are. A Harley convert and as the dealer said when we bought it, “welcome to the gang”!
